New Concept of Axial Flux Electric Motor with Internal Rotor Ventilation for Traction Applications

The purpose of the MEVIRO project is the design of an AFPM electric motor with a novel internal ventilation system based on a rotor with impeller function that drives the internal air flow of the motor improving the cooling of sensitive components of the motor (windings and magnets) and extracting more heat from the inside of the motor to the outside. The result is to obtain a more efficient, compact motor, with higher power density and simple (not having a liquid or oil cooling system) and therefore low cost, which can be integrated into light quadricycles, providing added value compared to current solutions.
